So a few weeks ago I went to Hobby Lobby for the first time. I've been to Michaels plenty of times before, but we never went to any other craft/art stores. Hobby Lobby was amazing though! A lot better than Michaels, and I thought that place was really great haha. They're huge for one thing, they have so much more in their store. They also had a lot of southern/Texas themed items, which I really enjoyed :D I ended up finding a lot of cool things there.
(Some of the art supplies I got)
(And yes, I bought a tiny cowboy boot. I love it!)
While I was there, I also found a wooden USA map. I've always loved geography and maps, so I thought I'd get it and make something with it.
At first, I just figured I would paint the states different colors. But then I had this great idea to paint it all teal (it's my favorite color) and put some gold details on top of that. A lot of times I go into a new project with a vague idea and then the details come to me as I'm working on it. So that's what happened with this piece.
I decided to paint a gold heart in the center and have gold sparks coming from it. Again, I didn't really have a meaning behind this piece, I just randomly had this idea and went with it haha.
I really enjoyed going to Hobby Lobby and making this piece. It was so much fun!
Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoyed!
